About Us
The line of BRUDA products were born in the heart of Amish Country Pennsylvania. Our goal is to create a cases and accessories for the iPad that are at the same time simple, elegant and very functional -- and the skills of the Amish craftsmen certainly help to make this a reality.
The Process
Each BRUDA product is made with care by local craftsmen. To begin the process for the cases, blocks of wood are laminated with alternating grain to help minimize warping. These solid hardwood pieces are then precision shaped. After being cut to perfection the wood is sanded and finished by an Amish cabinet maker. As you might expect, the entire process takes many hours.
We try to keep enough cases and blocks in stock to meet demand but sometimes that just isn't possible. We will always put forth every effort to get your order shipped as soon as possible after it is received.
We are passionate about providing a products that will give you the satisfaction of knowing your iPad is well cared for, and one that you will be proud to carry or have sitting on your coffee table.
The Wood
We use a variety of hardwoods. One of our favorites is cherry. We are also currently making the case in maple. But others will be coming soon -- some very exotic and ridiculously expensive. Depending on how the boards are cut, the grain will display in a variety of ways. Sometimes the grain will be very straight and other times it will display in a more flowing manner.
Sometimes there may be some color variations within the grain, which add a sense of uniqueness and individuality to the cases. No two cases will ever look completely alike.
The Finish
We apply a clear finish to our products, which allows the wood to reveal its natural colors. You will be pleased to know that over the first six months, the wood will continue to darken till it reaches the ultimate richness and character. This is especially true of the cases made with cherry wood.
Made in America
That's really important to us. Period.
About Our Name
The Amish people speak a language among themselves known as Pennsylvania Dutch, which is a variation of the German language. In that language, BRUDA (sounds like BROODA) is the word for "brother" which we think is pretty cool.
But mostly, we just like the way it sounds.
